Mauricio Pochettino showed clear frustration with the media during his post-match press conference on Thursday night after the United States lost 3-2 to Türkiye despite claiming they had won the group.
He told reporters that his side had still won the group despite the defeat on the night. The manager grew combative when faced with questions he described as weird and unnecessary. He defended the team's overall performance throughout the tournament and expressed surprise at the line of questioning from those present. Pochettino insisted the narrow loss did not change the achievement of topping their group. His tone made it clear he felt the focus should have been on the positives rather than the result itself.
